PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Michael is a member of the Lending/Insolvency team. He has over 40 years of experience in this practice area, and is regularly recognized for his knowledge and expertise in his field. He has focused his practice on banking, financing, and real estate matters. His experience allows him to provide basic and innovative financing techniques and banking solutions in comprehensive and timely manner.

Michael primarily works with Canadian chartered banks and other commercial lenders. He has been engaged as senior counsel by a number of Schedule I and Schedule II banks on lending, enforcement and bank regulatory issues.

Michael advises his clients on the following:

  • Syndicated loans among domestic and foreign banks

  • Offshore financing transactions

  • Asset-back commercial paper

  • Leveraged buyouts

  • Acquisitions by income trusts or existing retail businesses
