| Professional Experience: |
Daniel practices in the area of corporate/commercial law, with a particular emphasis on commercial real estate. Daniel joined the firm after beginning his career in the commercial real estate practice group at a major law firm in Toronto. Daniel has represented clients in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and activities including acquisitions and disposition of real property, leasing transactions on behalf of both landlords and tenants, and mortgage and lending transactions. His experience includes the following:
- Acted for a major retailer in the sale of 4 large-scale retail properties in BC and Alberta for approximately $280 million;
- Acted for a vendor in the sale of three hotels in BC, Alberta and Ontario for approximately $250 million; and
- Acted for a self-storage company in connection with its $416 million takeover of a real estate investment trust portfolio containing 61 self-storage properties, and obtaining consents from lenders holding approximately $275 million in mortgages.
Daniel has co-authored a number of real property related articles, including a case annotation on the environmental class-action decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal in Pearson v. Inco Ltd, and a chapter on piercing a tenant’s corporate veil in Harvey Haber’s text “Shopping Centre Leases, Second Edition”. Daniel is a member of the Real Property and Business Law subsections of the Canadian Bar Association. |
